College use of MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Student Email

MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Student Email is a means of communication between the College and students. The College provides access to MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Email service from on and off-campus via the World Wide Web. Therefore, the College has the right to send communications to students via Email and the right to expect that those communications will be received and read in a timely fashion.

Assignments of MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Student Email Addresses

The College will assign students a MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Student Email account with a unique email address. It is to this address that the College will send Email communications. MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Student Email accounts are to be used solely by the student assigned to the account. Students are responsible for maintaining the privacy of their accounts and passwords.

Redirecting of MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Student Email

If a student chooses to redirect his or her MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Student Email address to another Email address (e.g., @aol.com, @hotmail.com, etc.), they may do so, but at the student’s own risk. The College will not be responsible for the handling of e‑mail by outside providers. Redirecting MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Student Email does not relieve a student from the responsibilities associated with communication sent to his or her MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Student Email address. Redirecting MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Student Email is not recommended.

Expectations regarding student use of MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Student Email

Students are expected to check their MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Student Email account on a frequent and consistent basis in order to stay current with College communications. The College recommends checking MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Student Email daily as certain communications by the College may be time-critical.

Educational uses of MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Student Email

Faculty may determine how MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Student Email will be used in their classes. Faculty may expect students’ to access their MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Student Email accounts in a timely manner. Students should speak with individual faculty to ascertain email course requirements.

MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Student Email Usage

MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Student Email is not appropriate for transmitting sensitive or confidential information unless its use for such purposes is matched by an appropriate level of security.

All use of MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Student Email will be consistent with local, state and federal law including the confidentiality of student records protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).

Use of MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Student Email must adhere to Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Acceptable Use of Computer Resources and Electronic Communication Policy.

MyÂ鶹ÊÓƵ Student Email Account Deletion

This Email account is NOT a lifetime account and will be deleted eighteen months after you graduate, transfer or have stopped attending. An email will be sent to you BEFORE the account is deleted, so you have the opportunity to migrate your emails.
